Xbox 360 open tray error FIX - doesnt DETECT cds
i open it, put a cd in, close it, it says reading for a bit, then says open tray again. i can play it perfectly fine, in fact right now it has the sides top and bottom off and im playin it, but i still have to tap it to get the motor going -*UPDATE*- i recently got the red ring, and im probally going to get a new one. even if i do fix the red ring, i still have to pound on it. ill try getting ms to fix it for free, if not ill pull the money out of my ass to buy a new one. if any of you want …

the magnet and disk holder found a 1:10 some older 360 versions have them both together, and in the newerish ones they can come apart.

it goes in the middle of the disk, you can see me slap it on at 1:10. be sure it on there, if not your disk is sure to be ruined

My problem use to be that it wouldnt read disks, then i opened up my xbox completely and it will only turn on for about 5 seconds and then the fan will run realy high and 2 flashing lights apear. Anyway i can turn on my xbox??? Please help ive been trying since augest

FUCKIN GENIOUS !!! i went around youtube looking for a quick fix for my old xbox and tried a few things i lossend and tightend some screws then spun it manually like you did…….now i dont even have to spin it . its completely fixed works better than ever … best help video ive seen yet simple and flawless

I know a way to fix it, it’s not like fixing but modding but don’t worry just mod back to microsoft software.
It’s Simple!! Buy i knew DVD drive take the key from your xbox and get the new one and put the key so your xbox can know it then…. It works! but it’s going to cost you at least 50$-100$ so just get the 50$ drive and save that extra 50$
NOTICE: Only people who really know what they are doing should try this but it’s a 100% work, Because your buying a new drive makes sense.

Never had Red Ring of Death, but I have received this issue on now my third xbox. Since the issues only happens 90% of the time I know that it can be fixed…I’ll let you know if i Find a permanent fix. I would bet money that the high speed dvd rom causes something to get loose inside the dvd rom.

i got the same problem.. we shouldn’t have to resort to taking the entire machine apart when we simply want to play a game. Microsoft seriously took the wrong turn by using (S)hitachi-drives, seeing as the “open tray” errors are mostly related to magnetic issues within Shitachi-drives.

agreed no offence to xbox 360 but when this shit happens its a fucking gong show and its not worth it if this doesnt work im goingt o smash mine and get a new one or switch to play station 3 lol
